Conestoga College is looking for part-time library service assistants
Support Staff Temporary Part-time Position (6-month Contract with possibility of extension)
We require a qualified individual to support the Library and its technicians by maintaining the physical collection and library space as well as providing directional and technical guidance to students.
Supports the Library and Technicians by maintaining the physical collection through timely shelving of materials and shelf-reading duties to ensure accurate and efficient retrieval. Added support is provided in the provision of Circulation services, basic computing help (e.g., printing), and special projects (e.g., inventory control). Hours of work will be 15 hours per week with the opportunity for up to 24 hours per week, across all Academic semesters between the hours of 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, with weekend shifts on a rotational basis.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. This Library Services Assistant will work on-site 5 days per week. We have the following vacancies available:

Responsibilities:
- Performs accurate reshelving and shelf-reading of resources
- Retrieves materials on request
- Assists with basic circulation, room bookings, and basic computer help duties as needed (primarily on weekends or evenings), as part of frontline customer service
- Assists with office work such as photocopying, scanning, and filing
- Assists with floor monitoring during exam period and opening and closing of the library facility
- Supports the maintenance of a pleasant library environment by cleaning student workstations, tidying public areas, clearing study tables, communicating with students about appropriate use
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and working towards the completion of a Library Technician Diploma or related Post-Secondary Diploma
- Minimum of six months circulation experience or equivalent, preferably in a library setting
- Minimum of six months providing customer service in busy retail, library, or similar environment
- Familiarity with integrated library systems is considered an asset
- Experience with the Library of Congress classification system or equivalent for accurate shelving and shelf-reading of resources
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Computer literate and detail-oriented
